Pastor Byerly recently brought us a series of messages on the subject of Agape love.  As we were challenged to exercise agape love toward one another, I also thought about how we can show our agape love to Jesus Christ.  What can we as finite, simple human creatures give the Almighty Savior that has rescued us by his grace?  The answer comes right back to love.  In loving one another, we obey the Father, and in so doing, we express our love to Him.  At the heart of agape love is a preference for one another.  In order to prefer one another, we need to serve one another.  It really is a simple concept, but we prefer to complicate it.

We have many opportunities to serve (minister) at Sunset Avenue.  I will attempt to keep an up-to-date listing of opportunities on this page.  If you are not involved in service at Sunset Avenue, please take the next step.  We do not consider service to be optional, but rather, it is expected!

Technology-

Immediate need for assistance with Easy Worship (during service).  You would be responsible for running Easy Worship on a rotating basis (not weekly).  On the weeks that you serve, you would need to arrive by 8:30 a.m. for choir soundcheck.  No experience needed, we will train you!

Also needed- camera operators, sound and technologically gifted people to help in other aspects of creating video presentations, developing images, helping with the website, etc.

Children's Ministries-

Immediate need for:

• Nursery worker for 12 to 24 month old class.  You will play with and supervise the toddlers as well as feed them their snack.  You would be needed from 9:45 to 10:45 on Sunday mornings
• Nursery worker for Wednesday evening during Family Training Hour.  You will be needed approximately once every eight weeks from 6:50 to 8:15 p.m.  You will have the opportunity to play with the tots and give them a snack.
• Individual to run sound on Wednesday evening during Family Training Hour.  You will be needed from 6:50 to 7:20.  No experience necessary, we will train you!
• Preschool Leader for Children's Church. Duties would include finding replacements for preschool workers that are absent, recruit workers to help with this ministry, manage volunteers and coordinate lesson plans for the class.

• Volunteers to work once a quarter during the AM Service (once in 13 weeks) in the following areas:
• Preschool (in the Children's Ministries Center)
• Nursery (Birth - 12 months)

Buildings/Grounds Maintenance-

Are you gifted with handyman skills and ablities?  There are times where we are in need of men and/or women to perform small repairs and routine maintenance.  It may be a small plumbing issue, changing lightbulbs, fixing a handrail, trimming hedges or patching a wall.  Although we are asking for volunteers and would be blessed to have the help, we do ask that you be proficient in your area of repair or maintenance.  You would serve on an as-needed basis and would report to Scott Calloway.

Meal Coordinator-

Ladies Ministries is in need of an individual to coordinate the existing volunteers in the preparation and delivery of meals to those who have been ill or recovering from surgery, new moms, and families who have lost a loved one.  You would serve on an as-needed basis and report to the Ladies Ministries Director, Shelia Wright.
